În engleză, există două tipuri principale de diateze:

  1. Diateza activă (Active Voice):
    • Pune accentul pe inițiatorul acțiunii (cine face acțiunea).

            Exemplu: Researchers study particle behavior.(Cercetătorii studiază comportamentul particulelor.)

  1. Diateza pasivă (Passive Voice):
    • Pune accentul pe ținta acțiunii (obiectul sau persoana asupra căreia se produce acțiunea).

            Exemplu: Particle behavior is studied by researchers.(Comportamentul particulelor este studiat de cercetători.)

Cum se formează diateza pasivă?

Diateza pasivă se formează astfel: to be (la timpul corespunzător) + participiul trecut al verbului (forma a III-a).
  • Exemple simple:
    • The hypothesis is tested.
    • The materials were analyzed.
    • The data will be published.

Rolul prepoziției “by”:

Prepoziția by introduce agentul, adică inițiatorul acțiunii.
  • The experiment was conducted by scientists. (Experimentul a fost condus de oameni de știință.)

Când folosim diateza pasivă?

  1. Când agentul este irelevant sau necunoscut:
    • The vaccine was tested extensively.(Vaccinul a fost testat pe larg.)
    • A new method was developed.(O nouă metodă a fost dezvoltată.)
  2. Când accentul este pe rezultat, nu pe agent:
    • The theory was proven in 2020.(Teoria a fost demonstrată în 2020.)
  3. Pentru a descrie procese și utilizări:
    • This material is used in construction.(Acest material este folosit în construcții.)
    • The substance is made of organic compounds.(Substanța este realizată din compuși organici.)

Past Simple

Present Continuous

Scientists are analyzing the results.

Oamenii de știință analizează rezultatele.

The results are being analyzed.

Rezultatele sunt analizate.

Past Continuous

The team was conducting experiments.

Echipa desfășura experimente.

Experiments were being conducted.

Experimentele erau desfășurate.

Future Simple

Chemists will test the compound.

Chimiștii vor testa compusul.

The compound will be tested.

Compusul va fi testat.

Present Perfect

Biologists have identified a new species.

Biologii au identificat o specie nouă.

A new species has been identified.

O specie nouă a fost identificată.

Past Perfect

They had published the findings.

Ei publicaseră concluziile.

The findings had been published.

Concluziile fuseseră publicate.

Modals (e.g. can)

You can measure the temperature.

Poți măsura temperatura.

The temperature can be measured.

Temperatura poate fi măsurată.

Perfect Modals

They might have discovered the formula.

Ei ar fi putut descoperi formula.

The formula might have been discovered.
