Când folosim Present Continuous?

  1. Acțiuni care se întâmplă chiar acum (în momentul vorbirii).
    • Exemplu: I am listening to music right now.
  2. Acțiuni aflate în desfășurare, dar care durează mai mult timp.
    • Exemplu: She is writing a book these days.
  3. Planuri pentru viitorul apropiat.
    • Exemplu: We are meeting our friends tomorrow.
  4. Acțiuni repetitive, de obicei supărătoare, adesea marcate de adverbul always.
    • Exemplu: He is always complaining about the weather.

Cum recunosc Present Continuous?

Anumiți indicatori temporali sugerează folosirea acestui timp verbal:
  • now: I am watching TV now.
  • right now: She is studying right now.
  • at the moment: They are working at the moment.
  • in this very moment: He is running in this very moment.
  • at present: At present, we are living in London.

Reguli speciale pentru adăugarea terminației -ing:

  1. Dublarea ultimei litere a verbului:
    • Când verbul are o singură silabă și se termină cu o consoană precedată de o vocală, dublăm consoana: run → running, sit → sitting, swim → swimming.
  2. Verbele care se termină în -e:
    • Eliminăm e și adăugăm ing: make → making, write → writing.
  3. Verbele care se termină în -ie:
    • Schimbăm ie în y și adăugăm ing: lie → lying, die → dying.

Contrageri în Present Continuous

  • I’m în loc de I am: I’m reading a book.
  • You’re în loc de You are: You’re playing football.
  • He’s/She’s/It’s în loc de He/She/It is: She’s cooking dinner.
  • We’re în loc de We are: We’re learning English.
  • They’re în loc de They are: They’re walking home.

Forme negative contractate:

  • I’m not: I’m not sleeping.
  • You aren’t/You’re not: You aren’t dancing.
  • He isn’t/He’s not: He isn’t running.
  • We aren’t/We’re not: We aren’t working.
  • They aren’t/They’re not: They aren’t studying.
